수축과 이완 반복 시 탄성 변하지 않는 스프링으로 업계 숙원 해소
JAMBER Lifting, 고유 탄성력으로 입 벌림 수월…통증 획기적 감소
[의학신문·일간보사=유은제 기자] 흡수성 봉합사에 가시를 만들어 처진 조직을 끌어 올리는 리프팅실의 역사는 20년이 넘었다. 그동안 가시의 형태나 제조공법 등의 발달이 있었으나 리프팅 실에 탄성이 없었기에 시술 후 극심한 통증과 딤플 등 고통이 수반됐고 그 효과 또한 기대에 미치지 못했다.
이러한 문제들로 인해 관련 업계와 의료진들은 흡수성이면서도 탄성이 있는 실을 개발하고자 하는 노력과 의술을 발전시키기 위해 끊임없이 노력해 왔다.
흡수성 봉합사로는 원하는 탄성을 얻을 수 없기에 프랑스와 이탈리아에서는 비흡수성 재질인 실리콘을 이용해 탄성 리프팅실을 제조 유통하고 있으나, 비흡수성인 까닭에 각광 받지 못하고 있는 것으로 알려진다.
네오닥터 김현호 대표는 “그렇다고 실 리프팅이 퇴보하거나 사장되지는 않을 것”이라며 “미용시장에 있어서 일부 미흡하고 아쉬운 점이 있기는 하지만 효과를 내고 있기 때문에 계속 진화하고 있는 것이라고 생각한다. 나 또한 독창적인 제품을 만들고자 끊임없이 노력하고 있다”고 자부했다.
자부심을 바탕으로 네오닥터는 필러처럼 조직을 채울 수 있는 볼륨업의 기능을 가지면서 통증을 획기적으로 줄일 수 있는 제품을 세계 최초로 개발했다.
볼륨업의 기능은 물론이고 무너진 조직을 기둥처럼 받쳐주는 효과가 더 크다는 대다수 의료진들의 평가를 바탕으로 제품명을 JAMBER(잼버)라고 짓고 2021년에 출시해 지금도 호평을 받고 계속 성장하고 있는 제품이다.
JAMBER는 JAMB이라는 문설주, 세로기둥의 뜻을 가진 단어에서 유래했다. JAMBER 실을 개발하면서 김현호 대표는 차기 제품은 흡수성 봉합사를 이용해 탄성이 있는 리프팅실을 개발하겠다는 계획을 세우고 본격적으로 흡수성 탄성 리프팅 실 개발에 착수했다.
가시와 가시 사이에 구조적인 방법으로 탄성이 생기도록 개발 방향을 잡고 박차를 가했다. 2020년 관련 특허를 최초 출원하면서 연구에 집중했으며, 꾸준히 진행하면서 가시와 가시 사이에 탄성 구조로는 스프링 형태가 가장 적합하다고 판단했다.
참고로 스프링을 이용해 리프팅실을 최초로 사업화한 기업은 압토스다. 그러나 압토스의 리프팅실은 스프링이지만 탄성계수가 작아 한계가 있었다.
신제품의 핵심 기술은 의료용고분자실에 탄성계수가 높은 스프링, 무엇보다도 탄성변형구간이 길고 수축과 이완을 몇 백번 반복해도 탄성이 변하지 않는 스프링 개발에 있다.
또한 제품화가 가능하려면 제품의 전체 직경도 작아야 했고, 이를 위해 USP 3-0처럼 직경(0.3mm)이 작은 실로 제조돼야 하는데 0.3mm 실로 원하는 탄성을 얻어 내기란 불가능에 가까웠다.
하지만 오랜 연구 끝 에 상기 조건을 모두 만족 시키는 핵심 기술을 완성했고, 진행 단계별로 관련 특허를 지속적으로 총 7건의 특허를 출원하게 됐고 해외 특허 출원도 진행 중이다.
이제 JAMBER는 모든 실 리프팅에 활용 가능한 제품 라인업을 갖출 수 있게 됐다. 리프팅에 사용되는 JAMBER Lifting, 조직의 탄력과 볼륨업에 사용되는 JAMBER Volume, 코에 특화된 JAMBER Nose 등으로 JAMBER 상표는 15개국에 이미 등록을 마쳤다.
JAMBER Lifting 실에는 JAMBER Cog Long, 유일하게 중안면부를 모아줄 수 있는 JAMBER Cog Middle과 Short 제품이 상품화했다. 아름다워지려면 흔히 ‘애플존’이라고 하는 중안면부에 볼륨감을 살려야 하는데 JAMBER Lifting은 특화된 유일한 실로 장점을 가지고 있다.
탄성이 없는 리프팅 실은 일주일 이상 입을 벌리는데 어렵고 통증이 수반돼 상당한 고통과 불편함을 안겨 주는데, JAMBER Lifting 실은 고유의 탄성력으로 입 벌림이 수월하고 통 증 또한 획기적으로 줄어들어 만족도가 높을 것이라는 평가다.
JAMBER Lifting은 인체 모든 부위에 탁월한 효과를 낼 수 있는 성능을 가지고 있다. 현재 차기 개발 예정 제품으로는 이중턱 개선을 위한 제품, 질 수축에 활용 가능한 제품과 힙업용 제품, 또한 무릎위 처진 조직을 끌어 올리는 제품을 개발을 준비하고 있다.
김현호 대표는 “이제 세상의 흡수성 리프팅실은 탄성이 있는 제품과 없는 제품으로 나뉠 것이며, 탄성이 있는 흡수성 리프팅 실로 세계 실 시장을 선도하고자 한다”고 강조했다.
한편 JAMBER Lifting 실은 올해 상반기에 일본 시장에 진입할 계획이고, 국내 허가와 FDA, CE 인증 을 받기 위해 필요한 시험검사와 임상시험을 진행할 예정이며, 중국은 YXINTENT기업과 중국 내수시장 진입을 목표로 합작공장을 설립하기로 계약하여 현재 공장을 건립중에 있다.

JAMBER Lifting, Easier to Open Mouth with Unique Elasticity... Significant Reduction in Pain
The history of thread lifting designed with spikes on absorbent sutures to pull up sagging tissues dates back to more than 20 years ago.
Although there have been developments in the shape of spikes and manufacturing methods until now, the lifting suture was not elastic, accompanied severe pain which also resulted in, and the effect did not meet the expectations.
Faced with such drawbacks, the related industry and medical professionals have been constantly working to improve their efforts and techniques to develop absorbent yet elastic suture.
Since the desired elasticity cannot be obtained with absorbent sutures, in France and Italy, elastic lifting threads are manufactured and distributed using silicon, a non-absorbent material. But they are not at the center of attention because they are non-absorbent.
CEO KIM Hyun-ho of NEO DR says “The lifting thread market will not be one that regresses,” adding that “There are some areas for improvement within the aesthetics market, but it continues to evolve because it is still proving to be effective. I am also striving to develop unique products.”
Based on such high level of self-pride, NEO DR has developed the world’s first product that can dramatically reduce pain while effectively volumize the tissues just like fillers. Based on the praise by many medical staff that the product is not only effective in adding volume but also supporting collapsed tissue like a pillar, it was named JAMBER and released in 2021, and the product still is well-received now and continues to grow.
‘JAMBER’ is derived from the word ‘JAMB,’ which refers to a door column and vertical pillar. While developing JAMBER thread, CEO Kim Hyun-ho devised plans to develop an elastic lifting thread using absorbent sutures for the next product and started developing absorbent elastic lifting thread in earnest.
The direction of development was set and accelerated so that elasticity can be created between the spikes in a structural manner. When applying for a related patent for the first time in 2020, the company focused on research, and as it progressed steadily, it was determined that the spring shape was the most suitable for the elastic structure between the spikes.
Actually, the first company to commercialize lifting suture using spring was Aptos. However, its spring suture had limitations due to the low modulus of elasticity. The core technology of the new product is to develop a spring with high elastic modulus in a medical polymer thread, and above all, a spring with a long section of elastic deformation and one that does not change elasticity even after hundreds of repetitions of contraction and expansion.
In order to have a product ready for commercialization, the overall diameter has to be small, and for this purpose, the thread had to be manufactured with a small diameter(0.3mm) like USP 3-0, but it was almost impossible to obtain the desired elasticity with a 0.3mm-thick thread.
Nevertheless, after a long period of research, a core technology that satisfies all of the above conditions has been developed, and a total of seven patents have been applied continuously, with international patent applications also under way.
Now, JAMBER has a product lineup that can be used for all types of thread lifting. The JAMBER trademarks have already been registered in 15 countries, including JAMBER Lifting, which is used for lifting, JAMBER Volume, which is used for tissue elasticity and volume up, and JAMBER Nose, which is specialized for the nose.
Within the JAMBER Lifting thread lineup, JAMBER Cog Long, the only JAMBER Cog Middle and Short products that offers mid-face contouring, have been commercialized. To be beautiful, one needs to add volume to the mid-face, which is often called the ‘Apple Zone’, and JAMBER Lifting has the advantage of being the only specialized thread for this.
When using non-elastic lifting threads, it is difficult to open one’s mouth for more than a week and if often accompanies significant pain, causing discomfort. But JAMBER Lifting threads are expected to have high satisfaction due to their inherent elasticity, which makes it easier to open one’s mouth and drastically reduce pain.
JAMBER Lifting can have an excellent effect on all parts of the human body. Currently, the company is preparing to develop a product to improve double chin, a product that can be used for vaginal contraction, a product for hip- up, and a product that raises sagging tissue above the knee.
CEO Kim stressed that “The absorbent lifting suture will now be divided into one that has elasticity and one that does not, and now the company aims to stand at the forefront of the global suture market by introducing an elastic and absorbent lifting suture.”
Meanwhile, JAMBER Lifting Co., Ltd. plans to enter the Japanese market in the first half of this year, conducting necessary test and clinical trials to obtain domestic approval, FDA, and CE certification. As for China, the company has signed a contract with YXINTENT Co. to establish a joint venture with the aim of entering the Chinese domestic market.
