AI 근골격계 동작분석 ‘MORA Vu’ 편의성·경제성·효율성 높여
[의학신문·일간보사=이승덕 기자] 에버엑스는 ‘KIMES 2024’ 기간 동안 MORA의 ‘MORA Ex’, ‘MORA Care’ 등 다양한 솔루션과 더불어 AI를 활용한 차세대 근골격계 동작분석 의료기기인 ‘MORA Vu’를 선보일 예정이다.
에버엑스의 ‘MORA’는 의료 전문가 그룹의 풍부한 임상 경험과 의학적 근거를 기반으로 개발된 근골격계 특화 재활·운동치료 솔루션을 통칭하는 브랜드다.
1만 개 이상의 재활·운동 라이브러리와 고도화된 AI 자세추정(Pose Estimation) 기술을 강점으로 근골격계 디지털 헬스케어 시장을 혁신 중이다.
에버엑스는 타깃별 4가지 대표 솔루션을 개발, 제공하고 있다. 의료진과 환자를 대상으로 재활운동 배정 및 개인 맞춤형 피드백이 가능한 재활운동 비의료기기 솔루션 ‘MORA Ex’ △기업 구성원을 위한 근골격계 건강관리 솔루션 ‘MORA Care’ △AI 동작분석 의료기기 ‘MORA Vu’를 개발, 상용화하고 △국내 최초 근골격계질환 디지털 치료기기(DTx) ‘MORA Cure’를 임상시험 진행 중이다.
MORA의 각 솔루션은 생애 주기 전반에서 중요하게 꼽히는 근골격계 재활, 운동치료의 미충족 수요를 해결하고 치료 편의성과 접근성을 높이는데 도움이 된다. 현재 재활·운동치료는 치료 가이드라인에서 가장 높은 수준으로 권고됨에도 불구하고 시공간적인 제약으로 원활하게 이뤄지지 못해 미충족 수요가 큰 영역이다.
특히 MORA Ex는 비대면 상황에도 환자에게 지속성 높은 재활운동을 효과적으로 제공할 뿐만 아니라, 운동 배정 편의를 높이는 다양한 추천 프로그램을 통해 재활운동치료의 질을 높이고 있다.
■ 근골격계 AI 동작분석 의료기기 ‘MORA Vu’, 태블릿 등 활용 유용성 높은 정밀 분석 가능
이번 KIMES Seoul 2024에서 처음 선보이는 MORA Vu는 에버엑스가 자체 개발한 AI 기반 자세추정 모델 ‘그리핀(Griffin)’을 바탕으로 근골격계 동작분석에 특화된 솔루션이다. 최근 식품의약품안전처로부터 근골격계 분석 소프트웨어 2등급 의료기기 승인을 받아 품질을 입증했다. 이는 국내 근골격계 소프트웨어 의료기기로서 최초 사례다.
MORA Vu는 휴대용 태블릿, 스마트폰 등의 카메라가 환자의 관절 포인트를 인식하여 근골격계 기능, 밸런스, 협응력 등을 평가한다. 타 제품 대비 최소 2배 이상 빠른 데이터 처리 속도를 가지고 있으며, 별도의 검진 공간이 필요하지 않아 고가의 장비 도입 부담과 공간의 제약 을 획기적으 로 해소했다. 또 신체에 탈
부착하는 센서가 없어(Maker less), 조작이 간편하다.
MORA Vu에 적용된 Vision AI 기술은 5개 척추를 포함한 24개 관절 포인트를 추출하여 실제 임상 현장에서 의료진이 점검하는 항목을 높은 정확도로 구현했다. 다수의 센서를 부착해야 하는 기존 표준 자세추정 기기와 비교했을 때 동등한 정확도로 관절을 추정하는 것으로 확인됐다.
또한 10만 건이 넘는 근골격계 운동 동작 데이터를 집중 학습했으며, 환자의 자세와 동작을 의학적 근거를 기반으로 분석해 기존 동작분석 기기 대비 더 정밀한 분석도 가능하다.
에버엑스는 MORA Ex 사용 병원 및 검진센터 등과 MOR A Vu 도입을 논의하고 있으며, 선진화되고 있는 병원 환경에 맞춰 솔루션을 고도화하고, 우수한 기술력을 바탕으로 근 골격계 A I 동작분석 시장을 집중 공략, 선점에 나설 계획이다.
■ MORA 솔루션, 재활운동 전문 의료진과 환자 실사용 경험 축적 효과, 만족도 높아
에버엑스는 MORA 솔루션별 우수한 기술력과 혁신성을 바탕으로 성공적으로 상용화되고 있다. 근골격계 비대면 재활운동 솔루션 MORA Ex는 현재 서울대병원, 한양대구리병원 등 주요 상급종합병원과 병의원 등 60여 개 의료기관에 도입돼 약 200여 명의 의료진이 사용 중이다.
의료진 및 환자들의 만족도도 높다. 환자 수행률(치료 순응도) 약 70%, 통증개선율 81%로 유의미한 결과를 확보하고 있으며, 이로 인해 의료진과 환자 모두에서 80% 이상의 높은 사용 만족도를 확인했다.
디지털 치료기기인 MORA Cure는 임상을 통해 치료효과를 확인 중이다. 슬개대퇴통증증후군 및 만성요통에 대한 임상이 진행 중에 있으며, 대한정형외과학회, 대한스포츠의학회 등 국내 주요 학회를 비롯한 해외 학회에서 MORA Cure의 탐색임상 중간결과를 발표해 우수 연제상을 수상하는 등 의료진으로부터 솔루션의 유용성을 인정받고, 협업, 연구 등이 활발히 논의되고 있다.
글로벌 진출도 예정돼 있다. 미국의 원격 치료 모니터링 수가를 타깃해 수익 모델로 개발된 MORA Ex의 미국 버전 ‘EverEx Rehab’은 美 FDA 2등급 의료기기로 등록 후 현재 캘리포니아주 병원급 규모 물리치료센터 등에서 시범 사용 및 도입되고 있다.

■ ‘MORA Vu’ Offers Vision AI-Powered Precise Musculoskeletal Motion Analysis with Nothing More than a Smartphone or a Portable Tablet
Debuting at KIMES 2024, ‘MORA Vu’ specializes in analyzing musculoskeletal movements, leveraging the company’s AI-based pose estimation model, ‘Griffin.’ Recently approved by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its class II musculoskeletal analysis software, it marks the first instance of such software in a medical device in Korea.
‘MORA Vu’ assesses musculoskeletal function, balance, and coordination by identifying patients’ joints through cameras of portable tablets and smartphones. It boasts a data processing speed at least twice as fast as other products and eliminates the need for a separate examination space, reducing the burden of costly equipment and space constraints. Moreover, it operates without the need for sensors to attach and detach from the body (Maker-less), simplifying its operation.
The Vision AI technology integrated into ‘MORA Vu’ extracts 24 joints, including five in spine, and accurately replicates the parameters checked by medical experts in real clinical settings. It has been validated to estimate joint positions with comparable accuracy to existing standard posture estimation devices, which typically necessitate multiple attached sensors.
Furthermore, the AI model in ‘MORA Vu’ has undergone extensive learning with over 500,000 musculoskeletal motion data, enabling it to offer more precise analysis than existing motion analysis devices. This is achieved by scrutinizing patients’ posture and movements based on medical evidence.
EverEx is presently in talks regarding the implementation of ‘MORA Vu’ at hospitals and examination centers. The company plans to further develop solutions tailored to advanced hospital environments and prioritize the musculoskeletal AI motion analysis market, lever-aging its outstanding technology.
■ The MORA Solution garners high satisfaction by accumulating real-world experiences from pro-fessional rehabilitation practitioners and patients.
Every MORA solution by EverEx has been effectively commercialized, driven by its advanced technological capabilities and innovation. Presently, ‘MORA Ex,’ a musculoskeletal remote rehabilitation exercise solution, is utilized by approximately 200 medical staff across more than 60 medical institutions, including prestigious tertiary hospitals like Seoul National University Hospital and Hanyang University Guri Hospital.
Both medical staff and patients have reported high satisfaction rates. Patient adherence, indicating treatment compliance, reached approximately 70%, while the rate of pain improvement stood at 81%, reflecting overall satisfaction levels exceeding 80% among both medical staff and patients. Additionally, MORA
was honored with the Innovation Award in Digital Health at CES 2024. ‘MORA Cure,’ a digital therapeutic device, is proving its effectiveness through clinical trials for Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome and chronic low back pain. Interim trial results were presented at various international academic societies including European society of sports trau-matology, knee surgery and arthroscopy, DTx Asia, iPFRR, Korean Orthopaedic Association and the Korean Sports Medical Association.
The company is also poised for global expansion. The U.S. version of MORA, ‘EverEx Rehab,’ strategically crafted for remote monitoring CPT codes, is presently deployed and being introduced at hospitals and physical therapy centers across the United States. This progress came after its registration as a class II medical device in the U.S. FDA registry. EverEx’s commercialization includes plans to expand its domestic and international markets, serving hospitals, companies, and health checkup facilities. This aligns with each MORA solution’s unique focus on musculoskeletal diseases, leveraging accumulated evidence and expertise.
