[의학신문·일간보사=김현기 기자] Won Tech(CEO Kim Jung-hyun) is a strong global company that is leading the market by developing various medical devices based on its laser source technology.

Won Tech, which has already stationed itself as a representative company of laser device for dermatology, showcases its main products: Picocare, Picowon and Sandro-Dual.

Cosjet SR, a long-pulsed device with Nd YAG medium as its basis, and Cosjet TR, a Q-switched device are laser devices that Won Tech showcases for the first time solely with its own technology. As the most sold device at home and abroad, these models have also made today’s Won Tech.

Celebrating 20th anniversary this year, Won Tech is preparing for the next two decades to come by having new surgical laser devices used for treating prostate, thyroid gland and varicose vein as the company’s new momentum.

■ Pico Brothers, Picosecond Nd:YAG‘PICOCARE’ & Picosecond Alexandrite ‘PICOWON’

Won tech is Korea’s only company that has developed Picosecond device with Nd:YAG and Alexandrite medium with its own technology.

Picosecond laser is a device that destroys pigment particles as its pulse duration is 1,000 times shorter than that of Nanosecond device. It is also acknowledged as a device with top-notch technology among laser devices globally.

Won Tech is very proud of its technology as it developed Picocare and Picowon. Picowon finished its official approval at the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in May last year, and raised the degree of completion of its device by constantly communicating with the market. During “Symposia W,” a symposium held targeting the users of the devices early this year, the device was praised by the audience.

Moreover, Picocare received U.S. FDA approval for the first time as a product manufactured by an Asian company, and it boasts the largest market share domestically as one of Picosecond laser device.

■ “Sandro-Dual,” with global recognition

There were ceaseless praise about the technology of Sandro-Dual during the global user meeting held by Won Tech. Dr. Ashraf, a Canadian medical expert who uses Sandro-Dual which is equipped with both Alexandrite and Nd:YAG medium said:

“As a long-pulse hybrid laser equipped with both 755mm Alexandrite and 1064mm Nd:YAG, it is a device that is highly effective in treating pigmentation and hair removal. Using the hybrid mode that

can irradiate two wavelengths at a time difference, the largest benefit of the device is that it can treat lesion with high level of energy without damaging the surrounding tissue.”

Born in Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Ashraf is a doctor in Candada. He is also the head of laser department of the European Academy of Dermatology(EADV) and Vice President of the European Society for Laser Dermatology(ESLD).

■ New momentum, surgical laser medical device for prostate, thyroid and varicose vein

Won Tech is preparing to expand its business into surgical laser device, moving beyond aesthetics sector.

Surgical devices - Thy, Veincare, Veincare1940, Holinwon - will be showcased during the exhibition. They have received great praise at the Germany Medica, a global medical expo in November last year. As diode laser devices, Veincare and Veincare1940 have wavelength of 1470mm and 1940mm, respectively.

Korea’s first Holmium laser, Holinwon uses Ho:YAG with a wavelength of 2100mm as a medium for prostatism, spinal endoscope operation, urinary and kidney stone. Holinwon laser is an optimized devise for spinal operation that requires preciseness as its wavelength penetration depth is low, thereby leaving less damage to surrounding tissue.
